Introduction

A massive welcome to our class page! You should find all the information that you need right here!

Staff members in Acorn Class are very friendly. Mrs Holt is the class teacher. Mrs McCartney are Mrs Burgess are both Higher Level Teaching Assistants. You'll find us all in class at different parts of the week. We also have plenty of volunteers and students to help us make a fantastic learning environment for the children in our care.

Oh, and hang on! We have four chickens to look after too:  Gloria, Spider-Chicken, Hopscotch and Flopsy. They are rescue chickens who were once caged hens. We've given them a wonderful home where they can roam our playground and join in with lessons. The children are so good at cleaning them out and making sure they have a fantastic retirement. We do have some stick insects too, but they're all called Bob.

The class newsletter is below. It gives you information about what the children are learning and also day-to-day information that you might need too. If you have ANY questions, please just let one of us know and we'll do our best to help.

Learning

This term (February - April 2025), the children are learning all about London and the Great Fire. We will talk about sources in history and how we know what happened. The children will be looking at how important the Great Fire was and how this changed the future for everyone! As part of this, we have a trip to the local fire station planned too. It should be a very exciting topic for the children and I'm sure we'll manage to light a fire in our Forest School sessions too (safely of course!).
