Coronavirus (COVID-19) catch-up premium

• How it is intended that the grant will be spent?

1. As we we had 40% of our children in school during the Summer 2020 Term, we were able to identify the impact of school closures on learning, resilience, well being, etc. We continued to deliver the curriculum from September 2020 following the lessons learned during the previous term - more outdoor learning, shorter focused periods of learning, increased use of  Google Classroom, even greater targeted support for vulnerable children where possible, etc. This has involved purchasing resources for outdoor learning, new buildings for outdoor learning and increasing TA hours.

2. We have engaged in the National Tutoring programme. We are able to use the funding to access tutors at a heavily discounted rate. This consists of delivery of blocks of additional one hour tutoring sessions to groups of up to three children at a time. We were only able to access details of the programme from November 2020, but were able to start the delivery in early 2021. This delivery has continued since this time. We are targeting those children most in need of catch-up support. 

3. We have also engaged with school led tutoring, this was introduced from September 2021. We are able to offer further tutoring for those children who would benefit most from additional tutoring support.  

• How the effect of this expenditure on the educational attainment of those pupils at the school will be assessed?

We will work closely with the tutors, so support is directly linked to the key learning children need to embed. The tutors will report back to the class teachers about progress. Teachers should be able to see the results of the progress and the children should be able to demonstrate and explain their progress too.
